Don Porcella lives in New York City and
currently attends the Hunter College MFA Program
(part-time) in Manhattan, New York. His education includes a BA in
Psychology and a BFA
in Painting/Drawing.
Don was born in Modesto, California. While earning a BA in Psychology
from the University of
California at San Diego, he co-founded Artists in Motion art collective,
a group of artists who
created funk-art fashion, sculpture, and furniture from recycled and
reclaimed materials.
After moving back to Northern California, Don co-founded a locally
successful original rock
band entitled, The Face Urchins. He returned to school to study his
passion of painting and
sculpture earning a BFA Degree from the California College of Arts
and Crafts.
After graduation Don moved to East Hampton New York with his girlfriend
so they could both
work as artist assistants to David Salle and Miriam Schapiro. During
the time Don has been at
Hunter College, he has been included in several group and solo shows
at galleries in New York
and California.
