MATTEO BERGAMASCO: Other Worlds
(The Way Vision Becomes Hyper Space
May 31- July 11, 2007
Artist’s reception on Thursday, May 31, 5:00 8:00
April 5, 2007. MMGalleries is pleased to present a solo show by painter Matteo Bergamasco:
OTHER WORLDS (THE WAY VISION BECOMES HYPER SPACE), featuring oil paintings on canvas.
With a recommendation from independent art dealer Silvia Girardi, MMGalleries first interviewed
Bergamasco at his studio in Milan, Italy in 2006, and is now honored to be hosting his debut solo
show in the United States.
With fantastic paintings of brightly colored cities and gardens and dragons, full of elaborate details,
Other Worlds (the way vision becomes hyper space) reveals the next critical step of Bergamasco’s
ongoing personal exploration of the creative universe, one that continues his themes from “The
Etherial Portal”, held in Italy. His research could be described as spiritual or sacred. His endeavor is
all-encompassing—from the exact wording of the title of the show to the installation of the finished
pieces—and must follow a very precise path in order to visually translate a very lucid journey between
what is transcendent and what is perceived.
Matteo Bergamasco was born in Milan in 1982, where he lives and works. He studied at the Academy
of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan. Trained in the traditional school of drawing and painting, Bergamasco
now works in a more contemporary style, on layered backgrounds and in vibrant colors. At his young
age, he has already won several prestigious awards, including Premio Cairo and Premio Lissone,
stating his name as one of the most talented emerging artist of the contemporary Italian art scene. |
